Humble Roots and Simple Truths: About Me
Welcome to Humble Roots and Simple Truths, a reflection of my journey through motherhood, love, loss, and finding peace in the simple rhythms of nature. My name is Cynthia Rodriguez, and I’m so glad you’re here.
As a mother of six—three girls and three boys, including two teenage daughters—I’m constantly learning about the delicate balance between chaos and calm. My children, especially my teen girls, teach me patience and resilience in new ways each day. Our younger boys and daughter fill our home with laughter, curiosity, and a contagious sense of wonder. Together, they are the heartbeat of my life, grounding me in the present and reminding me of what truly matters.
My fiancé is my partner in every sense. We’re building a home and life on our homestead, where we’ve embraced a simpler, more intentional way of living. We share our space not only with our children but also with a whole family of animals: 32 chickens, 5 bunnies, 3 cats, and 2 playful dogs who make sure there’s never a dull moment. Every day on our homestead is an adventure, and through it all, we’re learning to nurture both the land and each other.
Of course, life hasn’t always been easy. The loss of my brother is a wound that has shaped me in ways I never expected. His absence is a constant presence, a reminder of love and loss intertwined. The grief I carry for him has become part of my story—a story that I share here, in the hopes that it offers comfort to those who are also navigating the pain of loss. His memory is in every word I write, every moment I cherish with my family, and every lesson I teach my children about love, resilience, and remembrance.
Writing is my outlet, a way to process the complexities of life, and this blog is my sanctuary—a place where I can explore not only my grief but also the joys and struggles of motherhood, my love for the land, and the quiet beauty of a simple life. I share stories of survival, healing, and personal growth, alongside glimpses of our family’s journey into self-sufficiency and homesteading.
There’s something deeply fulfilling about watching my children grow up surrounded by nature, learning from the animals we care for, and experiencing life’s simple pleasures—whether it’s collecting eggs from our chickens, playing with our bunnies, or snuggling up with our beloved cats and dogs. Our homestead is a reflection of the life we’re creating, full of love, learning, and a deep connection to the earth.
I invite you to walk this path with me, to share in the stories of my heart and home, and to find comfort in the shared experience of life’s highs and lows. Together, we can explore the truths that ground us and the roots that keep us growing.
Thank you for being here.
